Is fly fishing in productive lakes, because that is the only option I have and I really want Flyfish?

I do not know much about fly fishing and wanted to know because I wanted to buy a fishing rod and reels beginnn but my father told me not to fly large catches of fish in the lakes, but hes never really fished before flying, so I will not go so easily. So if anyone knows Fly fishing in the lakes, it would be great especially if they had some advice. Thanks for all your help.

Fishing since I was a young man, and I have 50 years now. Your father is right. You will not be very successful in fishing Fly into a lake. Fly Fishing (using the fact of a lure one of several species of flying insects) was invented, and is applicable to the sport when done in shallow water very deep, such as streams and rivers. The fish in the lake eating about half way down the water levels. Fish do not break the surface to eat when in a lake. The exception would be the shallow end of a lake or pond. You can see the most successful fly fishing in these waters. In a river or stream fish has no alternative that feed on the surface, and that is what makes fly like a fun sport.
